Training Solutions Wales is the corporate arm of Cardif and Vale College (CAVC) and delivers training to businesses and their employees.
The department is divided in to three specialist areas:
Business Development offers short courses, usually mandatory qualifications that certain sectors request or bespoke training; essentially tailored to the needs of a company, organisation or individual. Most of the courses are fee based however certain sponsorships are accepted.
Work Based Assessment deals with NVQ's (soon to be QCF'S) which allow applicants to achieve qualifications in their place of work based on current skills and knowledge. The costs of these courses are usually inexpensive as they are heavily subsidised.
Work Based Learning offers Modern Apprenticeships and SKILLBUILD routes. With the Modern Apprenticeship applicants come to college one day a week to learn the theory of their respective trade, and on the other days work in industry putting their new skills to practice. The SKILLBUILD option is a 13 week programme for unemployed persons to get a feel for the type of work they would like to do.
